Robert J. Butts, M.D., 52, of Alameda, CA, formerly of Galesburg, passed away peacefully in home in Alameda on Friday, July 18. He had been struggling with pancreatic cancer since his diagnosis in January.

Bob attended St. Joseph Academy, graduated from Galesburg High School, and Knox College. He received his Master's in microbiology at UC Riverside, his M.D. from University of Illinois, Chicago and his residency in Pediatrics at UC San Diego. Bob was a beloved pediatrician in Alameda and voted "best physician in Alameda" by the Alameda Magazine. Bob practiced a few years in Galesburg in the 90's while caring for his father.

He is survived by his father, Cyril W. Butts, Knoxville; his sister, Betsy, Plymouth, MA; his sister, Bridget, Chicago; his brother, Bill, Galesburg; 3 nieces, 4 nephews, and 1 grandniece.
