Victoria J. Perry (Mendez)

TAMPA, Fla. - Victoria J. Mendez, 55, Tampa, passed away at 9:02 a.m. May 13, 2012, at Tampa General Hospital.
Vickie was born July 31, 1956, in Galesburg, to Joe and Doris Perry.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Anthony Mendez, of Tampa; three of four children, Anthea Diaz and her husband Danny Diaz residing in Houston, Mathew Mendez of Tampa and Jessica Mendez of Tampa. Jessica's daughter, Jennesys Victoria Maisonet, was Vickie's first and only granddaughter. Her brother, Willis Parker and his wife live in Knoxville, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Doris Perry; her brother, Ronald E. Gilbreath; and her first son, Anthony Ardis Mendez.
Vickie was a wonderful mother and wife who loved her family unconditionally. Diagnosed in 1999 with Crohn's disease, she learned many hardships in life. She always had a good sense of humor, no matter the situation.
An honest woman and a hard worker, Vickie worked as a cashier at Hi-Lo Grocery throughout the 1980s and a second time in the late '90s. During the early 2000s she worked at a Kroger in Houston, then at Wendy's on Henderson Street in Galesburg. Through 2008, she was a travel agent for Reserve America out of her house in Tampa.
Service will be Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Church of Open Bible, starting with a meet and greet at 1 p.m., followed by the service at 1:30 p.m. Deliveries for plants and flowers will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.
