Mitchell J. McClure

Mitchell J. McClure, 62, of Galesburg, died unexpectedly at 7:11 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 in the emergency room of OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

He was born January 13, 1956, in Galesburg, the son of Carroll R. and Anne Marie (Shea) McClure. He married Barbara “Basia” Krol on July 30, 2004 in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife, Basia; a daughter, Pola, at home; his mother, Anne of Galesburg; a brother, Mark R. (Christine) McClure of Sammamish, Washington; and a sister, Rebecca J. (Timothy) Calams of Santa Clarita, California. He was preceded in death by his father.

After graduating from Galesburg High School in 1974, Mitch went on to graduate from the University of Illinois. He later earned his paralegal certificate from Loyola University in Chicago. He lived and worked in Chicago in the 1980’s, returning to Galesburg for a time in 1988 to help care for his mother. When he returned to Chicago, he worked for several years as a buyer for United Airlines. He began his paralegal career at Mayer Brown Law Firm in Chicago. He returned to Galesburg in 2001 struck by an illness but as he recovered he worked for Bridgeway. Later, he worked as a paralegal in Chicago for Orbitz, Emmi Solutions, and Stats. He returned to Galesburg in 2011.

Mitch had a deep love for his family. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially walking and hiking. He had a love of writing.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. A time for sharing will follow at noon. Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for his daughter, Pola, the Galesburg Civic Art Center, or the Knox-Galesburg Symphony. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
