WHEATRIDGE, Colo. - David M. Myers died in Lutheran Collier Hospice from cancer on June 19, 2018, in Wheatridge. He was 62.
David was born Jan. 4, 1956, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Charles and Bernice (Whitmer) Myers. He attended schools in Galesburg and graduated in the Galesburg High School Class of 1974. He was an avid bicyclist and had taken part in bicycle races in his youth. He continued riding throughout his life, bicycling daily as his main means of transportation. He had taken many long distance trips in the United States. One of his last long rides was from Illinois to Florida, when he was in his late fifties.
David was a life-long learner, read voraciously and was a challenging Scrabble player. He made friends easily and genuinely cared about people. David enjoyed the outdoors, whether for work or sports. He had lived in Colorado for a number of years and was a devoted Broncos fan. Much of his life he resided in Florida, until his recent illness.
David had been married but then divorced. He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Myers; two stepdaughters, Angela Munson and Jessica Lynne; and his son, Richard Spradlin. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles (Florence) Myers and William (Bonnie) Myers; and four sisters, Mary Matson, Joan (Prem) Singh, Janet (Mark) Benassi and Susan (Steve) Crawford; and by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Constance.
Per David's wishes, he was cremated. He will be greatly missed. He will be remembered at the annual Myers family reunion on Aug. 4, 2018, at Castle Rock State Park, along the Rock River, in northern Illinois.
