James W. “Jim” Stafford, 62, of Galesburg, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at home.

He was born December 8, 1955, in Galesburg, the son of Edward C. and Florence K. (Peabody) Stafford Jr.

He is survived by a sister, Pam (Joel) Hutchcroft of Knoxville; two nephews, Brian (Sara) Kern of Schaumburg and Nate (Kristi) Kern of Abingdon; a niece, Kaity Hutchcroft of Santiago, Chile; two great nieces, Natalee and Sophie Kern; and a great nephew, Camden Kern. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Stafford Jr. and mother, Florence Williams.

Jim lived in the Chicago area for many years while working for UPS. He retired in 2016 and moved back to Galesburg. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1974 and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Jim was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs.

Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Joseph Cemetery with Rev. Jim Ecklund officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Angels Humane Society. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements for the family.
